HISTORICAL INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY

Enticing investment estate property from the historical family linage of Francisco de Montejo. The estate has already been partially reformed with the future vision of a luxury hotel, and events / celebration retreat. It would also be perfect for a film set and studio, private school or just a resort holiday place for private weddings.

Location is everything - and this property is very well situated on the main federal highway that unites Mérida and Campeche. This is the main route that also connects Mexico City to Cancun.

Also very close are the archaeological zones of Uxmal, Oxkintok and the Puuk route that has the caves of Calcehtok and Loltun. This property is directly situated between the beautiful colonial cities of Mérida and Campeche and within minutes to the incredible coastal zone of the Biosphere reserve of Celestun.

ABOUT THE PROPERTY

The oldest parts of the property date back to the time before the conquest. According to the history of the locals, a great pyramid was located on this property first, but of course it was dismantled and reused for the building of this new estate. Evidence of this reformation can be found in the current day quality of the stone carved into the terraces and balconies of the buildings.

The more modern parts of the estate were constructed during the Golden Age of the Yucatan (19th century), when this are was enormously rich because of the cultivation and commercialization of the agave plant (a cactus that was made into rope for the shipping industry). And, the more spectacular buildings on the estate were constructed during the Porfirato period (early 20th c).

The main house of terracotta earth has a prime location on the estate. It has three bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, parlor with library, a main bedroom suite and three other bedrooms, which can be converted into common rooms. This house is graced with two rows of arches and columns.

The basement houses an old jail, which is now utilized as a wine cellar – which can be expanded for other storage needs.

The blue house of running arcades and columns – has five guest suites with private bathrooms.

The estate has two churches.
One of these churches is truly impressive, judged by its dimensions and beauty. It is the ideal place for any number of celebrations.

The other smaller church is the oldest building on the property. It is a historical prize of colonial sobriety.

Some of the other original buildings that still exist on the estate are the stables and servants quarters, a stone mill for grinding corn, and a storage room. The grounds are surrounded by exotic and enchanting - exuberant tropical vegetation.

There is a small pool located under the sacred Maya tree - the Ceibo - ready for use.

The property is for sale with 4 hectares of land, with possibility to acquire other 10 hectares from another adjacent owner.
